My Approach & Philosophy
My Philosophy
"When I am living with my bothness properly, my work is joy, my play is joy. When I am living with my bothness properly, life and death do not concern me: I am prepared for both."
— Barry Stevens
Human growth is not a commercial product to optimize, nor is the individual psyche a broken machine to be clinically cured. Every individual comes from a unique background, with distinct values, experiences, and aspirations. Growth is personal, iterative, and relational. This philosophy rejects the superficial scripts of mainstream personal development, which often sell identity as something to acquire rather than uncover. Instead, this platform views human transformation through a pedagogical standard of human development, critical theory, and lived experience.

Under an educational framework of development, the human self is recognized as an active, unfinished entity in a perpetual process of becoming. You are not a static set of deficits; you are an adult learner navigating a complex, lifelong lifecycle within a specific social system. True growth occurs through historicity; learning how to analyze your personal timeline, unlearn the invisible socio-cultural conditioning that has tracked your choices, and reclaim your internal locus of evaluation.

This lens fundamentally shifts how major milestones are handled:

-
The Reality of Awareness: Waking up to your conditioning is not a toxic-positive celebration; it brings a profound, necessary wave of epistemological grief. This philosophy honors that crisis as the essential ground-zero of deconstruction.
-
The Strategy of Acceptance: Systems theory proves that you cannot change a reality you refuse to look at. You must accept your current defense mechanisms and the immovable systemic barriers of the society you live in before you can successfully outsmart them.
-
The Interdependence of Love: True self-love is entirely relational. It is an outward and inward echo rooted in collective humanity and co-regulation. You cannot truly love what you hate in others, and dismantling the critical evaluation systems you use on the streets is the exact prerequisite to freeing your own mind.
This philosophy blends evidence-based peer support, trauma-informed practices, and lived experience. It helps individuals be who they are fully and effectively in the world, fostering authenticity, resilience, and growth across peer support, writing, art, advocacy, and volunteering. When you choose to step out completely unmasked, your authentic presence ceases to be a private self-help project. It transforms into a radical act of socio-political defiance. Your lived reality becomes a visible disruption to a system built on false performance.
This naturally creates an environmental safe zone that invites those around you to drop their masks and set themselves free to BE.
My Approach
"The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood. The best way to understand people is to listen to them."
— Carl Rogers
This work operates strictly on a non-clinical, horizontal peer-to-peer framework designed for practical execution. Rather than diagnosing or prescribing from an institutional pedestal, sessions function as a collaboration between two humans. You are treated as the primary investigator and the sole expert on your own life history, while the peer functions as an operational mirror to help you look objectively at your behavioral patterns. The objective is always to move deep reflection out of your head and into physical, real-world action.

Execution is delivered step-by-step through two complementary, proprietary frameworks that translate internal insight into a structured daily praxis:

-
The #BEYOURSELF Framework: A sequential skill-acquisition ladder that guides you from the initial friction of Self-Awareness, through the radical grounding of Self-Acceptance, the relational mirror of Self-Love, the physical boundaries of Self-Care, and the autonomous agency of Self-Direction, to ultimately standing fully as yourself in the world.
-
The Being Set Free to BE Framework: A structural progression based on Rocio Flores's 'Untying You From Me' poetry collection that mirrors the mechanical cycle of human transformation. It moves you dynamically through four distinct phases: Threadless (identifying complexities and constraints), Unraveling (reflecting and untangling limiting beliefs), Tangled (consciously releasing what no longer serves your path), and Loosed (stepping forward into unmasked freedom and purposeful execution on the street).
To ensure real-world momentum, every option is filtered through a rigorous sequence of hands-on phases:

-
Self-Initiative: Recognizing your readiness and desire for growth, exploring mental blocks, doubts, and internalized pressures that may hinder forward movement.
-
Reach Out: Emphasizing the value of connection, offering a peer perspective to help you identify patterns, habits, and thought processes that limit progress. This provides supportive guidance without dictating the path, empowering you to make your own decisions.
-
Learn: Encouraging curiosity and openness, integrating knowledge from reading, reflection, peer discussions, and practical exercises. Learning is combined with self-inquiry to transform insight into meaningful understanding.
-
Self-Awareness & Acceptance: Gaining clarity on your values, strengths, neurodivergent traits, and internalized cultural messages through guided reflection. Awareness naturally leads to acceptance—acknowledging yourself fully without judgment.
-
Self-Love & Self-Care: Nurturing yourself intentionally with awareness and acceptance established, building resilience and sustaining growth across mental, emotional, and physical dimensions.
-
Self-Direction & Action: Co-creating actionable strategies aligned with your priorities and values. You are guided in applying SMART goals, accountability measures, and practical tools to translate insight into action.
-
Execution in Life: Integrating action into daily routines, environments, and relationships, ensuring growth is context-aware, culturally sensitive, and sustainable.
-
Mental & Emotional Integration: Exploring the interaction of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors—including the influence of trauma, stress, and social conditioning—to gain tools to manage triggers, regulate responses, and strengthen self-efficacy.
-
Environmental Analysis: Assessing how work, home, social networks, and lifestyle factors impact decisions and well-being, identifying opportunities for alignment and positive adaptation.

Through this method, you gain clarity, confidence, and actionable strategies to navigate life’s challenges while honoring your values and personal growth trajectory.
