Hi, I Am
Rocio B. Flores!
This is my website!
This is where I share my work as an author, an artist, an advocate, —an andragogue of sorts— and MYSELF:
my thoughts, my views, my life, and my BEING.

My life’s purpose is to help YOU set
YOURSELF free to BE...
My aim is to help real people, in the real world, achieve real change. My goal is to help untangle the very real pressures, doubts, and systemic barriers that hold the REAL you back, so you can take meaningful steps toward being YOURSELF.
I’m a published author, a contemporary visual artist, and a fierce advocate for marginalized voices. On this site, I integrate over ten years of frontline peer support credentialing into a cohesive, non-clinical framework for human growth.
I aim to integrate a peer support model alongside evidence-based, trauma-informed concepts designed for real-life application and I share a raw peer perspective on self-development because I have survived the deconstruction myself.
Through my poetry, essays, commentary, art, and workshops, I share practical, attainable resources and thought provoking philosophy to support your own growth.
I am here to be and I would love it if you joined me along the journey to setting ourselves free to BE

The
Peer-Led Approach

Discover your truest self with experienced and battle worn support.
People only seriously consider change when they feel accepted for exactly who they are.
— Carl R. Rogers
Real People
I want to help real people be their real selves.
I believe most people are not confused about who they are — they are conditioned away from it.
Social systems reward performance. Culture promotes trends over understanding. Many forms of self-help sell identity as something to acquire rather than uncover.
I believe in:
-
Acceptance as the foundation for change
-
Research-based understanding of human behavior
-
Examining inherited beliefs and internalized narratives
-
Respecting neurodiversity and individual variation
-
Distinguishing authenticity from aesthetic self-expression
Being yourself is not a brand.
It is alignment between your internal experience and your external life.
Authenticity should function in relationships, decisions, boundaries, and belief systems — not just in theory.
Real World
I want to help people be themselves in the real world.
Growth that ignores context is fragile.
People live within social structures, cultural expectations, economic realities, and institutional systems. Personal development that refuses to acknowledge those forces becomes individual-blame disguised as empowerment.
I believe in:
-
Trauma-informed perspectives
-
Psychosocial and cultural awareness
-
Evidence-based strategy over motivational rhetoric
-
Naming structural barriers without surrendering agency
-
Building frameworks that function within constraints
Reality is not an obstacle to growth.
It is the environment growth must operate within.
Real Change
I want to help people achieve real change.
Insight without integration creates the illusion of progress.
Lasting change requires behavioral alignment, repetition, and sustainable structure. It is not dramatic reinvention. It is strategic adjustment.
I believe in:
-
Actionable, measurable steps
-
Long-term integration over short-term intensity
-
Systems that reduce cognitive and emotional overload
-
Aligning values, identity, and behavior
-
Choosing change that can withstand pressure
Real change is visible in daily life — not just in language.

From a Struggle to Change to Authentic Self-Love
Discover the Framework
Rocio B. Flores is a published author, contemporary visual artist, advocate, and an andragogue of sorts. Her personal philosophy centers on the #BEYourSELF framework — a model grounded in acceptance, cultural awareness, trauma-informed perspective, and sustainable change.
Across peer support, writing, art, speaking, and advocacy, Rocio focuses on:
-
Acceptance as the foundation for growth
-
Evidence-based, strategic change
-
Identity exploration within social and cultural systems

Alignment between belief, behavior, and self-trust
Dive Into the Story
Rocio’s framework did not begin as theory. It developed through personal struggle; navigating trauma, mental health challenges, faith questions, cultural expectations, and the tension between survival and authenticity.
Her journey from trying to change herself to learning to understand herself reshaped how she defines growth. Instead of chasing reinvention, she began building integration; aligning identity with behavior, values with action, and self-acceptance with accountability.
That evolution informs everything she creates and offers.
To understand how her lived experience, training, and advocacy intersect, and how they may support your own process, explore her full story.

Public Praise
'Untying You From Me' rang like a prayer
—a mother’s psalm.
Sometimes lament,
sometimes determined.
— Tia Levings, NYT Bestselling author of A Well-Trained Wife
As we witness the unraveling of our present, Rocio offers deep insight into both the personal and the political. These poems speak to the human condition, our faith, and the possibility of finding God within ourselves. As you move through the collection, you are invited to reflect on your own challenges and, in doing so, discover what it truly means to live a purposeful life.
– Yosimar Reyes, Author & Performer; 2024 Santa Clara County Poet Laureate; 2024 San José Creative Ambassador
She's created a roadmap from brokenness to healing and empowerment....Rocio's words will leave you feeling seen. More than that, you will walk away encouraged by the knowledge that healing is attainable and possible. That you can breathe freely and learn to trust yourself fully.
-Shari A Smith, writer at Running on Faith and Coffee & co-host of Survivors Discuss Podcast
Untying You From Me is a powerful collection of poems that unearth the beauty and the bruises of faith, and belonging. The author transforms lived experience into art that stings, heals, and refuses to be silenced. This is poetry for anyone who has ever carried the weight of otherness and dared to break free.
–Gerardo Ivan Morales, Co-Author of Detained (Simon & Schuster, 2025)
